Courtesy Listing,
Bubba: Bubba
is a 4-½ yr old black-and-white border collie. I have a very small condo and Bubba
needs to be with someone who has a large yard with a fence as well as a commitment to spend time with him and walk him every day. He is housebroken and can be left alone – he won’t damage anything. He loves to pull children on their skateboards
(children over 13 are preferable.) He rides well in the car and likes to give kisses and snuggle. Bubba also has some agility skills – he can jump pretty high and loves to show off. He has personality plus but he is definitely an alpha male and can be stubborn at times. He is very particular about other dogs – some he likes and some not. (He would probably be fine with a submissive female.) He is incredibly smart and a great watchdog – he only barks when someone approaches the door. He definitely has the herding instinct and would probably be good with horses or other animals (he hasn’t had the opportunity so far.) Bubba is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and has been micro chipped. He is also leash-trained and knows his basic commands. Bubba is a great dog and would be an incredible companion for the right person.

Shadow
: He is a around 1year old since February. He has the classic Border
Collie markings. Recent vet visit, shots up to date and neutered.
We
have him exposed to goats and chickens. Shows great herding ability with
goats, just needs proper training.
Shadow
is with a spayed female dog, and sleeps with 2 cats in same room.
Our cat is a dominant female and has him submissive to her. I am
sure he would be great with another cat that is not afraid of dogs.
He will chase cats he does not know.
He
has not been around a lot of young children. Has been around older
children and does not try to herd. Shadow is friendly once introduced.
He does not like anyone around his animals from the other side of the
fence.
Shadow
is a great dog that needs someone with lots of room and time. Would
love to see someone serious about herding sheep or ?
Shadow
has basic training, and has been trained to not go out or in without an
ok.
He
does love to dig, big holes. He has taken to trying to catch
gophers. He does bark if something is near his yard, and he chases
birds flying around the yard. I think this is from going, from 100 acres
to a ¾ acre yard. He is really a great dog, and would make someone familiar
with Border Collies a great friend.

This is Max. This pic was taken 2 months ago. He now
has a very nice black & white, shiny wavy coat. Max was found
wondering on the railroad tracks. He was picked up by a kind animal lover,
who desperately tried to find his owners. Max really needs a home to call
his own. We think he may be mixed with a little lab. He is with out a doubt
cute and loveable. Anyone interested in meeting Max can contact Liz
Norman @ (951)769-8144, or email her at… kritrkamp2@msn.com.

Beautiful, black and white neutered male lives in Los
Angeles with his family which includes a female
Lab and two children. We adopted Pepper from a shelter
about 5 years ago and
estimate his age to be 6-7.
Pepper is
very smart and loving with his entire
family, including a female
Labrador
and 2 children. Current
on all shots and AVID chipped. Sometimes aggressive
towards other dogs when on walks, but gets
along with most dogs once he gets to know them. (He plays
well with sibling lab and also cocker spaniel and yappy poodle that live
in the neighborhood when they come over to play.) I don't know how
he'd do with cats in the home. He is house-trained, leash-trained
and sits on command. Loves to play and go on walks -- needs
to be busy! A bit more rambunctious on walks with me (mother) than
with father or kids (e.g., wants to chase squirrels and the occasional
SUV) but is very loving and intelligent and has a great soul.
Needs a loving but firm human who understands a BC and can keep him
busy. Please email or call if you have questions. Leora

Wiley is a one year-old smooth-coated Border Collie recently
rescued from the East Valley shelter. He ended up there because his former
owner had a hard time keeping him from roaming. We don't doubt he's a clever
boy, and maybe even an escape artist, but we also know that a young Border
Collie boy needs a great deal of mental and physical stimulation to keep him
happy. He would love a yard to play in, but will require a minimum 6 foot
fence as he is quite an athlete. This smart, curious boy will be fun to
train and would make a terrific activity partner. We believe he could excel
at agility, flyball or frisbee, if a potential adopter was inclined to
pursue such activities with him. Wiley is affectionate, good with other
dogs, doesn't bother cats, and seems to like everyone. He is housetrained,
rides quietly in the car, and will "talk" to tell you what's on
his mind.
He weighs 40 lbs., is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Wiley is
available through the Echo Park Animal Alliance, a local animal welfare
organization. Visit: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA702.html
to learn about our adoption process. Please email: epaa@devildogranch.com
for an application.
I am currently looking for a new home for my dog Brisco.
I found him running down the middle of a busy street about 6 months
ago. I discovered that he has a microchip and attempted to find his
owner. After several phone calls I found that no one knew where the
owner was or how I could reach her. Since I knew he had a home but did
not know where to take him, I took him to the local shelter so they could
follow the proper channels to find his owner. They sent a letter to the
last known address stating that they had her dog and that she had 6 days to
come get him or he would be put up for adoption. She never responded
so when he was put up for adoption I picked him up. I took him home
knowing full well that he may not become a permanent member of our family
but decided that he would be better off being a "foster" dog here
then sitting in the shelter. I work for a local veterinarian, Art
Colyer DVM, at Colyer Veterinary Service (530-872-3246) and he guessed
that Brisco is about 18 months old. He was already neutered when I
found him and weighs about 45 pounds. I got him up to date on his
Rabies and DHLPP vaccines and started him on heartworm prevention. He
tested negative for heartworms and is due for a follow up test next
month. He is a very sweet dog and gets along great with my other 2
dogs (a 9 1/2 year old neutered Lab, and an 8 year old spayed Bassett
mix). I also have 4 cats. He has shown no aggressive tendencies
towards them, however he is obsessed with hearding them (go figure). I
don't have kids so I don't know how is around small children. He got
out the other day and chased some kids on their bikes but was much
more interested in the tires than the riders. I have had him around
many other dogs and he has never gotten aggressive even when
challenged. He is crate trained and knows some basic commands
("sit", "come", "down", and "off"
when he gets on the couch uninvited). His name was "Spot"
when I found him but we call him "Brisco" and he knows that is his
name. A friend of the family trains working stock dogs and gave me the
opportunity to take him out with some sheep. He was a natural.
Watching him with those sheep made me realize that he is longing for
something that I cannot provide. It's not that he is unhappy here, he
just wants more. I am looking to find him a home where he can work
everyday. I will keep him here with me as long as it takes to
find him the appropriate home. I don't want him to go back to
the shelter and I don't want him to end up a backyard disaster. I want
him to go to someone who knows what kind of dog they are getting and has a
job for him to do.
My name is Becky Caldwell. I can be reached at beckyrenee7@aol.com
or 530-680-4388. All of Brisco's records (for the last 6 months) can
be found under my name at Colyer Veterinary Service 530-872-3246. He
is also licensed in Butte County under my name as well.
I am looking forward to hearing back from you. Here are some pictures
of Brisco.
